Volume Profile and Activity Map Premium

A footprint volume profile for TradingView: every footprint row enters the profile at the price where it traded, with its own buy and sell split — plus stacked imbalances and time at price for the same window.

  • The dashboard states the footprint row size, rows per bar and how much of the window the footprint covered.
  • Stacked-imbalance zones are filed on bar close, dimmed after a test and removed on a close through.
  • Includes Volume Profile and Activity Map, the classic edition that runs on any TradingView plan.

What is Volume Profile and Activity Map Premium?

Volume Profile and Activity Map Premium is a TradingView indicator that builds a volume profile from TradingView volume footprints, placing every footprint row at its traded price with its own buy and sell split. It adds stacked-imbalance zones, a TPO time profile and the complete classic map for order-flow and market-profile traders on a TradingView Premium plan or higher.

A stacked imbalance indicator that retires its own zones

A volume profile is only as precise as the volume behind it. Built from candles, it has to guess where inside each bar the volume traded. Order flow and time at price then live in separate tools on separate windows, and imbalance boxes stay on the chart long after price has dealt with them.

Volume Profile and Activity Map Premium reads TradingView volume footprints bar by bar and states how much of the window they covered. From the same rows it files a stack only when three consecutive imbalances of one side hold through the bar's close; the first return tests and dims it, and a close through its far edge removes it. Buy and sell are classified by intrabar direction, and the tool says so rather than calling it bid and ask. Row sizes and thresholds are calibrated and tested over hundreds of hours on historical charts of the most traded markets.

Footprint volume profile, stacks and time at price on one chart

  1. 01

    Footprint rows at traded prices

Every footprint row enters the profile at its own price with its own buy and sell split. The Data row shows the row size and the share of the window the footprint covered.

  2. 02

    Stacked-imbalance zones

A row where one side traded at least three times the other side one row away is an imbalance; three in a row make a stack. Stacks are coloured by direction and drawn to the last candle.

  3. 03

    TPO market profile

Time at price in 30-minute periods: tPOC, an optional time-based value area, single prints as cyan boxes, and excess and poor highs and lows.

  4. 04

    Initial balance

IBH and IBL mark the first 60 minutes of a session window; the Initial Balance Break alert fires on the first close outside.

  5. 05

    Absorption on the row

A bubble on the footprint row where aggressive volume was absorbed — heavy selling in a bar's lower third while it closed in its upper half, or the mirror. An adaptive threshold keeps bubbles rare.

  6. 06

    Footprint-weighted VWAP

Each bar's volume weighted at the prices where it traded, with up to five standard-deviation bands; bars without a footprint use the typical price.

  7. 07

    Automatic row size

The footprint row size follows the instrument family and the interval; outside about 12–40 rows per bar, the Extended dashboard suggests a better one.

  8. 08

    The complete classic map

Zones by role with strength, retests and delta, low-volume gaps, naked levels, a reference profile and confluence — the map of Volume Profile and Activity Map, on footprint rows.

How it decides what to draw

  1. It reads the footprint of every bar.

Rows enter at their traded prices; bars without a footprint fall back to one chart-bar sample, and the Data row reports the covered share.

  2. It classifies honestly.

Buy and sell come from intrabar direction, as in TradingView's own footprint chart — not from bid and ask — and the tooltips say so.

  3. It files stacks only when they hold.

By default a 300% ratio across three consecutive rows; a stack is filed on bar close only if its bar did not close back through it.

  4. It counts time as well as volume.

Single prints and excess or poor extremes need a chart timeframe no longer than the TPO period; where they cannot be measured, they are left out.

  5. It grades, flags and freezes.

Every window is graded FULL, APPROXIMATE, DEGRADED or UNAVAILABLE; tick volume reads TICK-BASED; closed windows are final and events print on bar close.

Built on IQ — Intelligent Quantitative

Every indicator in the family stands on the same foundation, so it reads the chart the moment you add it — and your time goes into the market, not the settings panel.

In Volume Profile and Activity Map Premium, Auto-Timeframe sets the footprint row size by instrument family and interval, the number of profile rows, the promotion of short anchors and the absorption threshold — every value with a manual field of its own.

  • Auto-Timeframe, on by default

Your chart interval picks a calibration profile tuned over hundreds of hours of testing on historical charts of the most traded markets — gold, oil, major currency pairs, indices, stocks and crypto. Change the interval and the indicator re-tunes itself.

  • Manual Mode for experts

Every value the calibration sets is also a setting of yours. Full control, nothing locked behind the automation.

  • Dark and Light, automatically

The indicator reads your chart background and switches colours and transparency on its own. Line weights and text sizes are set by role.

  • One family, one visual language

The same concept wears the same colour in every indicator. Combined, they divide the chart instead of duplicating it.

  • A universal session clock

Asia, London and New York run on their own city clocks, daylight saving is handled for you, and the instrument class decides which windows apply.

  • Honest by construction

Events print on bar close, closed windows stay frozen, and the data behind a reading is graded or labelled. No profit promises and no hidden guesses: when the data cannot support a reading, the indicator says so.

Use cases: crude oil, NVIDIA, Nasdaq futures and gold futures

Examples come from closed historical charts and are used for education — they are not trade recommendations.

WTI crude futures 5-minute chart: three untested stacked zones, two activity zones and one-tick footprint rows
Green for buying initiative, red for selling.

WTI crude futures (CL1!) · 5m · New York session · defaults

What you read on the chart Three stacked zones drawn to the last candle, two HVN zones with one holding price, one-tick footprint rows, about 25 per bar.

How to use it A green stack above price is buying initiative, not support. Bright means untested, dimmed means tested, gone means closed through — read which initiative is still unanswered.

NVIDIA 5-minute chart with IBH and IBL lines, the time-based tPOC and the footprint profile of the regular session
Initial balance, tPOC and volume POC of one session.

NVIDIA (NVDA) · 5m · regular session · Volume Profile Anchor = RTH

What you read on the chart IBH and IBL of the first 60 minutes, tPOC, the footprint profile with its value area and three stacks.

How to use it Where tPOC and the volume POC meet, time and volume agree on value; Initial Balance Break flags the first close outside the range.

Micro Nasdaq futures 5-minute chart with tPOC, tVAH, tVAL, a cyan single-print run and two low-volume gaps
Little time and little volume at the same prices.

Micro Nasdaq futures (MNQ1!) · 5m · US morning · Time Profile (TPO) = Key Levels + Value Area

What you read on the chart tPOC, tVAH and tVAL, one single-print run as a cyan box, two LVN gaps and two stacks.

How to use it Single prints and low-volume gaps often coincide — little time and little volume at the same prices, a fast move the auction did not revisit.

Gold futures 5-minute chart with the footprint profile and the Extended Footprint row: 2-tick rows, about 25 per bar
Automatic row size for the metals family.

Gold futures (GC1!) · 5m · New York morning · Dashboard = Extended

What you read on the chart A 2-tick row chosen for the metals family, about 25 rows per bar, coverage on the Data row.

How to use it Check the resolution before you lean on the zones; on the gold CFD the same setting picks a much larger row.

New to the concept? How POC and value area work.

Frequently asked questions

Which TradingView plan do I need?

A TradingView Premium plan or higher — TradingView serves volume footprints on those plans only. The included classic edition runs on any plan.

Do I get the classic edition too?

Yes. $49.99 includes Volume Profile and Activity Map, and you receive invites to both scripts. Use one per chart.

Does it repaint?

Closed windows are frozen, and stacks, bubbles and naked-level tests print on bar close. The developing window updates by design and is labelled DEVELOPING — how to verify an indicator does not repaint.

Is the footprint bid and ask data?

No. Buy and sell are classified by intrabar direction, as in TradingView's footprint chart. Bars without a footprint use one chart-bar sample, and the dashboard shows the covered share.

Which markets and intervals?

Any symbol with volume, from seconds to monthly charts. Tick-volume feeds (forex, CFDs) are flagged; TPO extremes need a chart timeframe no longer than the TPO period.

What alerts does it have?

Thirteen: the classic nine plus stacked buy imbalance, stacked sell imbalance, stacked zone tested and initial balance break. Use Once Per Bar Close — how to set up TradingView alerts.

Can I use it with other indicators?

Yes. If another one draws a profile, set Histogram = Off; if it draws volume nodes, switch Show Activity Zones off. One edition per chart.

How do I get access and updates?

Give your TradingView username at checkout; the invites arrive within 24 h and the scripts appear under Invite-only scripts. Updates reach you automatically.

Can I get a refund?

The terms for one-time purchases and subscriptions are set out in our refund policy.

Should I buy it or subscribe?

Buy it for $49.99 if this is the one tool you need — both editions, lifetime. IQ Premium ($39.99/mo) gives every Premium and Universal indicator, current and future, at a fixed price — one-time vs subscription.
